Show POLICE CHIEF ASKS TWO DRASTIC LAWS Chief of Pnlice J. Parley White has I two bills in course of preparation which he proposes to present to the present I legislature for adoption as la ws. One would provide for making the passing of fictitious checks a felony, and the other would prevent the sale of firearms except ex-cept to persons given permits from dis- j trict court judges. ! An unusually large number of fictitious , checks are being circulated, according to the police, and the authorities are powerless power-less to properly cope with the situation when the crime is onlv a misdemeanor. Chief White declares that the indiscriminate indis-criminate sale of firearms encourages crime, and he is of the opinion that a curb in the sale of weapons to irresponsible irresponsi-ble persons will tend to reduce murders and shooting affravs. The chief is preparing pre-paring data to show members of the legislature leg-islature tiiat the Indiscriminate Sfile of weapons Is an encouragement to crime. |
