A new vein of sulphide ore has just been cut hy the Nenzel Crown Point company in the Piu-N'anzel tunnel at aiuit 1700 feet from the portal and 2'"-i feet oeyor.d the fifty-foot vein encountered a month aso. which showed at the point of intersection twenty-five feet of ore that samples from ?p;.40 to ?26.40 per ton. The new vein is ten feet wide and the ore is apparently of the same character as the laivrr vein. This tunnel will be driven ahead about 2i0 feet and th.Mi a vertical raise of 30u feet will be put. up lo connect with the Crown Point tunnel on the American canyon can-yon slope of Nenzel hill. The raise will cut on their din several veins already opened hv 1 he Crown Point tunnel and it will aPo serve as a connection between thee workings for the pipe Hue of the water system which the Nenzel Interests will install as soon as possible from American Amer-ican canyon to the towns of Rochester and Ijower Rochester. Twelve feet of ore nveraglng ?10 per ton is now showing in tlie Zero vein, which was recently cut by the Crown Point tunnel 12.". feet below the old lease workings in whirl) about three feet of ore is exposed for 330 feet that will average av-erage $14 per ton. Two carloads of ore shipped from this level returned $22 per ton. Six other veins of commercial ore have been cut 1y the Crowii Point tunnel, tun-nel, which is now In about 1150 feet. Development in the Rochester M ines property continues along the usual energetic, ener-getic, lines, with ore reserves being added to on various levels. When the new aerial ae-rial tramway from mine to mill is completed, com-pleted, it iy planned to bring all ore to surface through the FYieclman tunnel, ;it the portal of which tlie upper terminal of the tramway if located. The mill is again running on ore hauled by the Nevada Short Pine railroad, but at much less than full capacity, because of the limited equipment equip-ment of the road. All of the towers of the tra.mway, thirty-eight in number, are now finished, and other work of installation instal-lation is being rushed as rapidly as possible. pos-sible. Machinerv and other equipment for the Rochester Combined Mines company are bein-x hauled in from Oreana and will soon be placed in commission at the property, in the Packard section of the district. Development De-velopment is in progress on several veins that are officially reported to show large bodies of good ore. and an energetic campaign cam-paign of operation will be carried forward. for-ward. Thomas Robinson, former president of the San Francisco stock exchange, spent a couple of days in camp last week Inspecting In-specting the Packard South Extension propei ty, of which he has recently secured se-cured control. Pome .eood ore has just been struck in the face of a. tunnel that is now being driven, two asAtys Across sepa rate streaks of ore about eighteen inches in width showing fifty-nine ounces and twenty-six ounces respectively. Robinson Rob-inson intends to soon inaugurate more extensive operations. Good assays are being obtained from bunches of ore that are now being encountered en-countered in the development work on the Pome Trail, the latest returns being $31.07. The vein that is now beina; developed de-veloped is well define! and gives encour- I aging indications of making a producer. The Pincoln Hill Mining and Milling com pan v sent out a small shipment of gold bullion a few days ago from ore produced pro-duced from tlie new strike on the 300-foot 300-foot level. Buck and Charlie. Octopus, Flunkey, Nevada Packard and other properties continue production along the usual lilies and maintain prominent places in the activities ac-tivities of tlie district. |
