Vtah Agricultural college aud University Uni-versity of Utah debaters will clash to-lujrht to-lujrht at Barratt hall over the question, ques-tion, "Resolved, that the United States should adt universal compulsory military mili-tary training." The U. A. C. will uphold up-hold the negative of this question. The team that the Logan school is sendiug down to defend its honors is one of the best trained ever sent out by the U. A. C, although it does not represent extensive intercollegiate experience. ex-perience. Harold Peterson is the only man on the team who has before appeared ap-peared on an intercollegiate team. Last year he represented the Utah Agricultural Agricul-tural college against Idaho, and two years ago he debated ajjainst the University Uni-versity of Denver. "W. J. Snow has had some experience in inteihigh school debates, and Ivor Sharp last year won the Thomas medal, given at the U,. A. C. to the champion interclass debater. Each man in the debate will be allowed al-lowed twelve minutes for his main speech, -with five minutes for a rebuttal. rebut-tal. Each school lias two teams, a negative and an affirmative. Tlie negative teams will go on the road and tiie affirmative teams will debate at home. The Uni-versitv Uni-versitv of Utah negative team will debate de-bate at Provo and the Brigham Young university negative team will contest at Logan. Theron Parmelee. Heher Sevy and Stanley Stan-ley Howell will represent the University of Utah in the local contest. L. B. Critchlow of Salt Lake will preside. The matter of judges will be definitely settled today. Miss Edna Calderwood. J. R. Harmon and Elia Day will represent the University Univer-sity of Utah in the contest at Provo. Tlie B. T. U. team will consist of M. II. Knodsen, R. F. Xilsson and Mis Lucy Phillips. |
