To put it mildly, the offices and attaches at-taches of the state land board at the capitol were under strict surveillance last night. The office force worked late, but the custodians of the building, acting under instructions, were on the Job when the employees of the board left the building. build-ing. And it was seen to that nothing left the building in the way of books or records. When the land board employees left their offices a watchman was placed in charge with strict instructions to admit nobody until office hours this morning, when a formal demand will be made on Secretary W. J. Lynch and his clerk, Orson Or-son Eldredge, for the keys. The land board in special session yesterday, yes-terday, said to be engaged in considering leases and routine business, had adjourned ad-journed but a few moments before notice no-tice was served on Secretary Lynch by , Governor Bamberger of his suspension from the office of secretary. Conse- quently no action was taken on the order. or-der. The board, it is understood, will convene con-vene again this morning to receive any communications the governor may have to send. |
