Show ELECTIONS HELD AT L. D. S. UNIVERSITY Juniors and Business Class Make Selections Se-lections of Officers for Semester; Freshmen Hold Primary. The juniors of the L. D. S. university lipid their final elections for semester class officers yesterday morning. Van Grant was elected president over Byron Maw and Elton Thatcher. Only two candidates can-didates were to be entered in the finals, but the race 'between these three was so close in the primaries that they were allowed al-lowed to enter the later election. The vice presidential race was easily won by Miss Frances Gibbs. Gerrold Leaver was elected over Miss Lucile Tal-mage- In a close race for the office of secretary-treasurer. Ren Clawson was the selection for athletic manager, defeating de-feating Tom Silcox. Alan "Wood won the position of yelimaster from Elmer Pratt. Pratt had a large majority in the primaries, pri-maries, but Wood's supporters got busy and succeeded in overcoming the lead before be-fore the finals. The hop managers are Grant String-ham String-ham and Mtfs Ruth Allen. The Junior . Prom, the biggest social function of the I school year, will be under the manage- I ment of these two hop managers. j The business college class elections re- I suited In the selection of Bryan West for i president. West is a former student of the Pleasant Grove high school and while at the southern Institution held- the office , of student body president. He is also a basketball player of note, having been selected as an all-state forward. The vice , presidency was won by Miss Lucile Hancock, Han-cock, while Miss Nina Richards was the selection for the secretaryship. The treasurer treas-urer is Clarence Von Hake. The hop manager and his assistant were elected in the primaries. They are Vern Peterson Peter-son and Miss Laura Davison. Lawrence Sheets was the- unanimous selection for , athletic manager. The freshmen succeeded in holding their i I primary elections after several attempts to get organized during the week. John 1 Donaldson and Lora ine Home were the ' successful candidates for the presidency , and Miss 'Ruth Woolley and Miss Kthel , Allen won out for the office of vice president. presi-dent. The secretaryship lies between I Sharp Sanders and Miss Madelyn Stewart. Stew-art. Miss Edith Teudt and Clifton Jacob-sen Jacob-sen are up for treasurer. Onlj" one candidate can-didate was nominated for yelimaster. Henry Von Rekon. The athletic manager is Walter Christonsen. He was the only candidate in the field. The candidates for hop managers are Miss Lois Cannon and Miss Ethel Allen and Frank Strlngham and Clarence C'artwrlght. One girl and one boy will be chosen. |
