Show NEWSPAPER WOMAN SHOOTS POLITICIAN A. C. Th6mas, Republican Chairman of Sanders County, Mont,, the Victim. THOMPSON FALLS, Mont., Sept. 28. A. C. Thomas. ..Republican chairman of Sanders county, was shot and seriously wounded here today by Miss Kdlth Coliby, a newspaper woman. Miss Colby's reason rea-son for shooting, she told the sheriff after her arrest, was that Thomas had insulted her. Word tonight from Missoula, where Thomas was taken for treatment, was that the wounded man's condition was extremely critical. According to friends of Thomas, Miss Colby aslied Thomas yrntenlay why ho never gave her any news and he replied that he "never gave news to anv person per-son who lied about him and his friends as she had done." Miss ( 'oliiy asserts that he made still anothpr rmiai-k reflecting re-flecting on her personal reputaiion. Stepping In front of Thomas today as she emerged from a hotel, MIs:r Colby demanded an apology for the alleged ln-fult. ln-fult. Thomas paid no attention and began be-gan walking away. Mtss Colby thereupon there-upon drew a revolver find fired four shots. Two of the-m took effect, one In tbe arm and the other in the abdomen. Miss Colby came here, from Spokane two months aco and obtained work on a newspaper news-paper opposed to Thomas. |
