SHARP FIGHT ENSUES Members of Committees for County Convention Are Named, i Preliminary details im ulent to the Republican county convention, which convenes at 11 o'clock this morning at the Salt Lake theater, were threshed out by the delegates from the municipal wards at caucuses held last night at the city aud county building. Caucuses were held by each of the five municipal wards and each ward selected its complement com-plement of county committeemen and representatives on each of the three convention committees. Ward chairmen were elected for all except tho Second ward, and ward secretaries sec-retaries for all except the Second and Third wards. The officers of the Second Sec-ond ward will be selected at a meeting of the district chairmen, which will be held next Tuesday night. The secretary secre-tary of the Third ward organization will be designated within a few days. Bamberger Employee Wins. Everything proceeded smoothly at all the caucuses except in the Third ward where George A. L)avis met with violent opposition because he happened to be connected with one 1 of the business interests in-terests controlled by Simon Bamberger, Democratic nominee for governor. The opposition placed in nomination for chairman T. A. H'erringer on the ground that he was more favorable to Nephi L. Morris, or that Mr. Davis might not be as strong for Mr. Morris because he was allied in a .business way with the Democratic nominee. It ; took a lot of argument and numerous ballots to put Mr. Davis in the chair, but he eventually landed there. Mr. Davis insisted that he voted for Mr. Morris at the state convention and was a loyal worker of the party. Outside of the contest in the Third ward the feature of the caucuses was the re-election of Julian Riley to the chairmanship of the First ward for the fourteenth consecutive term.
