Show LOCAL REPUBLICANS ; MME TICKET TODAY i . Several Sharp Contests Are Scheduled for Salt Lake County Convention. The eyes of all Republican leaders in the state, aB well as of the majority of the rank and file, will be turned today toward Salt Lake City, where the Republicans Re-publicans of Salt Lake county will meet in -convention and nominate candidates for the county ticket. For here the keenest keen-est struggle of the state campaign will take place, and the result will mean much to both old-line parties. The Republican county convention will convene in the Salt Lake theater at 11 o'clock this morning. Judge R C. For nearly every office on the county ticket the keenest competition is anticipated. antici-pated. Each candidate claims a strong following and expresses confidence of victory. vic-tory. For county commissioner. A. H. Crabbe appears to have an especially strong support within the city, and George T. Sharp is the favorite candidate for the position from the county prerinets. Aside from the usual convention struggles, strug-gles, some excitement may be furnished on tile convent ion floor if the rumor is true that the city delegates plan to override over-ride the designation of the county precincts pre-cincts for assessor. At the Murray caucus cau-cus Tuesday the .county precincts indorsed in-dorsed K. 1j. Burgon as the candidate for assessor. There was a consistent rumor ru-mor afloat last night that the city delegates dele-gates objected to having a man from the county pnss upon city property, and that they plan to override the wishes of the outside districts and place a candidate from the city on the ticket Instead of Mr. Burgon. |
