Show BIG INHERITANCE CHECK RECEIVED A cliorU for 4O3,074.S7 in payment of inlu'i'ilanro taxes of tho estate of James Ilobart Moore of Linn, Wis., was received yesterday at the office of A. R. Barnes, attorney general of Utah. The tax is paid on 5000 shares of Union Pacific common stock, and is one of the three largest amount received by the state in the line of inheritance taxes in the past two years. The largest tax received during the closing biennhim was in the sum of $35,237.50, which was paid by the estate es-tate of L. V. Harkness of Lexington, Ky. This tax was paid on 6000 shares of Union Pacific common stock. The next largest tax collected amounted to $26,502. 20. This was paid by the estate es-tate of Charles W. Harkness of New York City on 875 shares of Union Pacific Pa-cific preferred stock and 3600 shares of Union Pacific common stock. Charles Harkness and L. V. Harkness Hark-ness were .brotehrs. Charles died first and, according to the records in the attorney at-torney general's office, bequeathed more than $100,000 of his estate to his brother in Kentucky, including a portion por-tion of the stock on which the brother's broth-er's estate later had to pav an inheritance inheri-tance tax to the state of Utah. |
