The diversion, whih has been vying with dancing in the favor of the smart set in New York and on the coast, was introduced at the Country Huh last winter, but a mild winter curtailed skating facilities. A large skating pond was flooded at the Country Huh early in the w'mter and the freezing weather of the past few weeks has put it io excellent con-dition. con-dition. MemhprB of the club enjoyed the skating last week, and the leisure, which will come during the holidays, after the rush of Christmas preparations, prepara-tions, will evidently be taken advantage of for indulgence in the exhilarating sport. Young folks at home for the Christmas Christ-mas vacation from eastern and western schools will bring their youthful enthusiasm enthu-siasm to the sport and will doubtless spend their afternoons skating and their evenings dancing. The gay throng of college girls and boys will begin early this week and by the end of the week all who contemplate returning for the holidays will be under the parental, roofs, adding to the Christmas cheer with their bright presence. The dainty color scheme of blue and gold was effectively used in the decoration of the table. A tiny pale blue candle was placed at each guest's plate, while two large cut-glass candlesticks with blue candles and blue shades were at each end of the table. The centerpiece was a quaint little Santa Claus house, surrounded by tinsel. Mrs. Charles Fowler won the favor. A surprise party was given Mrs. Emma Powell Thursday afternoon at her home on Sixth East street. Luncheon Lunch-eon was served at 1 o'clock and was followed by music and games.
