Show LACK OF COAL MAY CLOSE DOWN MINES Bi ngham Is Facing Serious Situation on Account of Big Snowstorm; Fuel Supply About Exhausted. Special to The Tribune. BINGHAM. Dec. 27. with snow Tour' to six feet deep on the level and the supply sup-ply of fuel practically exhausted, the town of Bingham and many mining companies com-panies in the vicinity are facing a serious seri-ous situation. Three cars of coal were received here yesterday by one company and when the coal was delivered in less than twenty-four hours the dealers reported re-ported they still were ten days behind their ordora. But the town is in little worse, shape than many of the mines. The Ohio Copper Cop-per company has announced that It has only sufficient supplies on hand to run it until noon tomorrow and then will he compelled lo close down unless relief Is obtained. The Boston Consolidated al-ready al-ready has been forced to close down oi account nf the snow. t The Utah Copper company is operating all but three of its steam shovels and these are inactive because of the depth of the snow -on the levels. The Denver 8c Rio Grande has been unable to open its line to Lark to relieve the Ohio Copper Cop-per company. It tried today to open the high line at Bingham, but broke the snow-plow, snow-plow, which was sent to Salt Lake for repairs. Tli" Bingham-Xcw Haven mine also is out of commission for lack of timbers and supplies. The mall carrier to the Highland Boy district was forced to make the trip on snowshoes today because his horse was unable to negotiate the deep snow. Upper Bingham has received no mall for three days. The carrier tried to make tire trip on horse, but was unable to get through the snow. He then tried snow-shoes, snow-shoes, but the snow was too soft, and he gave np the attempt. Supplies also re reported as low in Upper Bingham. Mail was sent to the United States mine today by way of the Niagara tunnel. Unless Immediate relief is received, a great deal of suffering will be experienced In the town and near-by camps. |
