One of the moat severe wind and snow storms that j his visited this section in years has been j raging the past two days, delaying all ; traffic on the Oregon Short Line and ' cutting off all communication by tele- j phone' or telegraph. No trains arrived here since Sunday I midnight until today at 1:30 o'clock. i Three feet of snow fell during the j night, accompanied by a high wind, j which made it almost impossible for resi- i dents to leave their homes Christmas j day or evening. j The storm subsided at noon today and j extremely cold weather set in. The post-offb-e was filled with people -eager for mail that should have arrived Christmas. Christ-mas. The conditions here are serious on ac- count of the shortage of coal, the supply I of which has been Nmited for several weeks. |
