Show PREPARING BULLETIN ON MINES OF NEVADA Clarence A. Wright, assistant metallurgical metal-lurgical engineer of the United States bureau of mines, with headquarters at the University of Utah, who recently left for Nevada, where ho iu spec ted several difficult mining propositions, is now preparing a bulletin which will cover his investigations. Mr. Wright first visited a gold mill on the Walker river Indian reservation at Schurz, Nev., which has .been closed down by the government because the tailings from the mill were being run into two irrigation canals. Mr. Wright undertook to figure out how the operations could be resumed at a minimum mini-mum cost aud without damage to the canals. Following this he made a visit to a few districts northwest of Tonopah to look over some lead, zinc and silver prospects which are near Hawthorne and Min a. Another visit was made to a zinc mine a few miles south of Keno. The mine is particularly interesting inter-esting in that the ore is marmetite, the treatment of which is a most difficult problem. The .bulletin will deal especially with the losses of zinc in the milling process. pro-cess. The economic geology of this section sec-tion of the country will be explained bv H. A. Buehler. state geologist of Missouri. It is hoped to have the bulletin bul-letin in the course of publication by next spring. |
