Show BURGLARS ARE AGAIN BUSY IN SALT LAKE i Reports of Several Robberies Are Made to the Police Department; Auto- j mobile Again Stolen. Taking advantage of the evening when ! many Salt Lake residents were away from home, burglars last night entered several residences in the eastern part of the city. The first report to reach the station came from the home of Oliver V. Meredith, Mere-dith, Jr., of 743 East Third South street, who said that on his return to his residence resi-dence he found the place had been care-fuHy care-fuHy explored by housebreakers who had taken three gold rings, one of them set with a diamond, and other valuables, consisting- largely of jewelry. : W. O. Walker of 1392 Blair street returned re-turned to find that his home had been broken into and a number of valuables stolen. The burglars, according to his report, which reached the police station about 1 o'clock this morning, had broken in through a screen at a back window. Among other valuables taken was a little lit-tle savings bank which contained several sev-eral dollars in silver coins. Another case which special officers wero detailed to work on came from the Acme Drug store, on the corner of Ninth East and Tenth South streets. This store, according to repgrt at the police station yesterday, had been entered by thieves Saturday night through a rear screen, thence through a cellar, into the main part of the building. The burplars contented con-tented themselves with taking a few valuable valu-able drugs, and a moderate quantity of cigarettes, whisky and several dollars worth of postage stamps. Prior to these reports, the department '. was asked to again search for Judge W. H. King's automobile. The family of Judge King reported last night that the car, returned to them but a few days ago, had .again disappeared and that no trace of it had been found. This makes the third time In ten days that Judge King has lost his car. The machine was stolen yesterday from in front of the Kin home. The family had been out for a drive, and returning had entered the home for a few minutes. On returning to resume their trip they found the car ; had been stolen. |
