Show 13-YEAR-OLD BOY BURNED TO DEATH Zoran Keed of Steptoe City Meets Tragic End While Playing With Powder. Special to The Tribune. JlcGILU New, July 30. Zoran Reed, 13 years of age, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Reed of Steptoe City, adjoining this town, was fatally burned about 11 o'clock Friday morning and died as the result of his injuries in the Steptoe hospital about 6:30 p. m. The little boy, with one of his playmates, entered the powder maza-zine maza-zine of the Nevada Consolidated. Copper company, where they cut open some powder pow-der with their knives. They then filled their pockets with the explosive, and a short distance away threw some of the powder on the ground and lighted It. The llames from the burning powder on the ground ignited that in the Reed boy's pocket and his clothing: became almost instantly a mass of flames. In an endeavor to tear off the burning clothing his companion badly burned his hands, but was not otherwise injured. The Reed boy attempted to run home, but was overcome 'and dropped to the Aground, where aid which had been summoned sum-moned by liis companion reached him. He was beyond medical aid and was taken to the Steptoe hospital, where he died after several hours of agony. Funeral services took place today from the .Mormon .Mor-mon meeting house in Ely. |
