Show APPOINTMENTS TO BE TAKEN UP TODAY Not Likely That Definite Action Will Be Reached on Matter of In- i creased Salaries. Final action on the appointment of professors and instructors at the University Uni-versity of Utah will be taken by the board of regents today. The board will meet at 9:30 o'clock this morning at the office of Chairman W. H. Biter in the Deseret National bank. It is not expected that the finance committee will be ready to make its report and recommendations on the recent re-cent application of the teaching force for a 20 per cent increase in salaries, but it is probable that the subject of teachers ' salaries will come up for informal in-formal discussion before the board. It is understood that most of the regents re-gents are inclined to grant an increase in pay to the teachers, but foel that the finances of the state will not permit per-mit of an increase as large as 20 per cent to all the teaching force. It is probable that the board, when it comes to act ou the matter, will cut that amount in two. |
