THE final elections for student body officers at the 1,. I. S. university for next year were held yesterday. George Nelson was elected prcsi-d prcsi-d e n t by a majority of 200 v o tc s over Lorenzo Cbwsnn. John Cannon Can-non and Nelson won out for the office in the primary elections held last week, but Cannon . withdrew from the race for the presidency to assume the editorship of the. For first rice president Miss Mary Hansen Han-sen won over Miss Mary Woolley. Miss Hansen lias held the position during the present school enr, and her successful o d mi ni si ra t ion helped her at the polls. Kenneth Olson defeated Rcssed Morris for the second vice presidency in a close race. The closest race of the four was between be-tween Harold Bennett and Alvjn Nelson for the ofiice of secretary-L'ca:-urer. Nelson Nel-son is only a freshman at the institution, but lie came within ;in ace of winning the election. Bennett beating him out by a scant thirty votes. It has worked out successfully. :;nd t lie board of control thinks the oflieprs can assume greater responsibilities without overtaxing themselves. The Gold and Mine affairs will be placed largely in the hands of the student stu-dent body in the future, and the subecitp-tion subecitp-tion price will be incorporated in the entrance fee. George Nelson will replace Orson Pratt as president; Miss Hansen will succeed herself; Kenneth Olson will supersede Elmo El-mo fvddingtnn, and Harold Bennett's job has been taken care of by George Nelson, who goes up to the presidential chair. |
