THREE of the officers of the Associated Associ-ated Students West were selected yesterday at the primary election at the West high school for the year 11116-1917. Harold Jennings was elected president; Riter Ridges, secretary, secre-tary, and Renwick McXiece, treasurer. In each of the three rases the majority over all the other nominees combined was large. The office of vice president alone is left to be decided at the final election later in the month. The two high ones yesterday were Athena Beck with and Lucy Lu-cy Budd. with 247 and 139, respectively. Marguerite Lawson followed with 110 to her credit, while Thalia Coffman had 99. The high two will compete in the finals. Jennings is at present the president of the junior class. He is also serving on the student council. Recently he was the winner of the Frank B. Stephens contest and served on the strong West high debating debat-ing team. He secured 500 of the total of 595 ballots cast. Chauncey Craddock se- I-- - X ; . 'Ridges was the first lieutenant of company com-pany I) of the Salt Lake high school cadet battalion this year and he represented that body on the student council. Hi& number o? votes was 375, with Charlotte Johnson second, with 112. and Nettie Shurtliff on her heels with 111. Renwipk McXiece was not expected to have an easy time witli his two opponents. D. B. Bill and C. S. Springer, in the race for treasure-. However, lie easily won with 307 votes, while Springer and Dill had to be satisfied with IDS and S9 bal-: bal-: lots, respectively. McNiece is the treasurer treas-urer of the Associated Students West this year and has served for a ronsideranle number of years as the treasurer of the High School Athletic association. He is the debating coach at the srhool and is well liked by ail of the pupils. 1 |
