Good roads day will he observed today by 200 members of lhe Rotary and Commercial Com-mercial clubs, who will leave this morning with their picks and shovels for Parley's canyon to improve a part of the Lincoln highway. Fostered by the various civic bodies of the state, good roads day has been set aside by proclamation of the governor, and citizens of almost eve it county in Utah will work today on the highways. Final details for Sail lake's participation participa-tion in the state-wide observance of good roads day were outlined at yesterdays luncheon of the Rotary club. From subcommittees sub-committees came the report that the slate engineer ha,s planned construction work to he done near the dam at Mountain Moun-tain Dell; that tools for the workers have been provided by P. J. Moran and the county road commissioner, and that ample refreshments for the workers will be ready when desired. To make Salt Lake's participation in the day official, the city commissioners have put off today's meeting meet-ing until tomorrow and will wield the tools with the rest. Various state officials offi-cials also will assist in the work. The workers will assemble this morning morn-ing at 8 o'clock at the HoLel Utah. Automobiles Auto-mobiles for the half-hour ride will accommodate ac-commodate 200 persons and additional private parties will make the trip. Charles A. Qulgley is grand marshal of the festivities fes-tivities and S. D. Evans is chairman of the joint Rotary and Commercial club good roads committee. His suhchalrmen for today are B. F. Redman, in charge of the commissary, and P. J. Moran, in charge of the tools. |
