Show Central School Playground During the last five years the liinghum recreational center has made renfarkable progress. This year over three hundred different differ-ent boys and girls took advantage of the supervised activities in dancing, handicraft, art, dramatics, dra-matics, and sports. They had opportunity op-portunity to help organize and direct, plan and participate in a flag day parade, a Fourth of July float, a unit representing Bingham Bing-ham in the Midvale Harvest celebration, cel-ebration, and ninety seven boys and girls participated in the closing clo-sing program presented to two-hundred two-hundred and fifty of their friends and relatives. The three recreational teachers are college trained teachers approved ap-proved by the Jordan school district dis-trict board of education, and have given more than 450 hours of supervision in the ten week period per-iod which the playground has operated. The activities have been varied to suit the desires of the child as well as the different age groups. Each Tuesday every one has taken his lunch and nar- ticipated in a sports program held at Copperton. The children have been transported on these occasions by the school bus. Different Dif-ferent tournaments and contests were sponsored each week, as well as the special Friday program pro-gram which gave each child an opportunity to participate in some original show or entertainment. entertain-ment. For all these activities the child was awarded ribbons for outstanding achievements and given points. At the end of the year the points arc added up and pins are presented to high point individuals. The winners this year were Nan Stokes, Alaine Hohison. Denece Johanson, Shirley Shir-ley Whited, Elaine Ballamis. Colleen Col-leen Robison, Louise Ballamis and Beverly Newman.
