Show TAX LEVY FIXED AT 35JB MILLS Bingham Canyon's all-purpose levy for 1940 totals 35.85, a decrease de-crease of .91 mill from 1939. The rates of taxation, broken down, for the local government, school district, county and state levies are: State, 7.15; county, 6.6; Jordan school district, 6.5; Bingham city, 15.00; county library, .6; total, to-tal, 35.85. In 1939 individual levies were: state, 7.9; city, 13.5; Jordan school district, 7.85; county library, li-brary, .71; county, C.8; total, 36.76; The city levy, up 1.5 mills for 1940, will be distributed as follows: fol-lows: contingent expenses, 2; streets and sidewalks, 3; public safety, 5; bonds, interest and sinking fund, 5; total, 15 mills. In 1939 the total city levy of 13.5 mills was apportioned: bonds and interest, 4; general purpose, 2; streets and sidewalks, 2.5; public safety, 5. Reduction of the county levy in 1940 from 6.8 mills to 6.6 mills, a decrease of .2 mill, was made possible by an increase in the county's valuation from $221,-148,117 $221,-148,117 to $246,153,713. the state tax commission announced an-nounced the lowering of the state levy from 7.9 mills to 7.15 mills was possible because of increased in-creased assessed valuation and decision of the commission to use the existing surplus in the state's general fund. The state levies for 1940 will be apportioned: general fund, .9 mill; district school fund, 4.7 mills; high school fund, .2 mill, and state school equalization fund, 1.35 mills. In last year's levy of 7.9 mills the individual levies were divided divid-ed as follows: general fund, 1.45 mills; district school fund, 4.9 mills; high school fund, .2 mill, and state equalization fund, 1.35 mills. A reduction of 1.35 mills in Jordan school district was shown by 6.5 mills levied as compared to 7.85 in 1939. A decrease in assessed valuation valua-tion necessitated the increase of the Bingham city levy. |
