Show BOY SCOUTS AT CAMPJTEINER Norman Densley, Scout Leader Trucks donated by Hogan dairy, National Tunnel and Mines, Utah Copper company, Citizen's Coal and the district Boy Scout bus were all loaded and left Bingham at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, August 3. There were 64 Boy Scouts from troops 111, 112, 113, 136, 150 and their leaders.. lead-ers.. On arrival at Camp Steiner parking lot the boys were met by the assistant camp director and given instructions, after which they were released to hike with pack the three-fourths mile into camp. The Scouts were assigned to their various camps after dinner and then invited to a council fire where they met the camp staff, as follows: Royal B. Stone, camp director; Storrs Smith, assistant; Don Moore, camp doctor; Lawrence Wagstaff, water front director; and life guards, Howard Smith, Joe Patrick," Krehl Smith; cabin crew, Ross Whipple, Wesley Thomas; hike director, John Evans; Ev-ans; carpenter, Clifford Erick-son. Monday, August 5 The raising of the American flag each morning at 8 a.m., lowering low-ering at 6 p.m., was taken care of by different troops in turn. Swimming was allowed twice a day, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.; 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. Games each day were: horse shoes, badminton, rope spinning, half hitching, clock golf, hatchet throwing, real estate and deck tennis. Tuesday, August 6 Hiking day conducted by headquarters. head-quarters. Swimming, boating hours 8:00 till 12:00 and 1:00 to 5:00. One troop acted as hosts to another troop of Scouts at camp fire. Here boys sang songs, played games and became acquainted ac-quainted with other Scouts. Wednesday. August 7 Boys had craft hours and hours for candy and gum. Limit on candy bars was one per day, but as many candy suckers as they wished were allowed. Boys enjoyed en-joyed swimming, fishing, boating and games. Thursday, August 8 Hiking day: a special hike known as Hayden's hike. Scouts going had to have the camp doctor's doc-tor's O.K. Boys took lunches and water containers, left at 9 a.m. and returned at 4:30 pni. Evening Eve-ning entertainment was the same as Tuesday's. Friday, August 9 Circus day. All boys in camp competed against one another in .swimming, water contests and land lubber events. The Bingham Bing-ham district held a court of honor hon-or with badge awards being presented. pre-sented. Dr. Paul S. Richards conducted con-ducted the meeting and parents of many of the boys attended Dr. Richards brought a treat of water melons, peanuts and candy can-dy bars.
