Show PROTEST MADE BY REPUBLICAN WOMEN Demand That Judiciary Committee of House Report Re-port on Amendment. The Woman's Republican club met yesterday afternoon with Mrs. D. N. Straup on Twelfth East street, with Mrs. George G. Armstrong, Mrs. Earl Saunders, Mrs. J. D. Frampton, Mrs. J. U. Kent and Mrs, W. Bloomsterberg as assisting hostessess. By resolution the club makes protest against the action of the house judiciary judici-ary committee in suppressing the Susan B. Anthony amendment and demands that the amendment be reported out of the judiciary committee at once. It was resolved further, that a copy of the resolution be sent to the chairman of the judiciary committee, to the minority minor-ity leader of the same committee, to the minority leader of the house and the minority leader of the senate, as well as to Senator George Sutherland and .Representative Joseph Howell of Utah, with instructions to the two latter to read it into the Congressional Record. The resolution was unanimously adopted after Miss Doris Stevens had addressed the club. A pledge of $50.00 was voted to further the work of the Congressional Union in launching its '. proposed party of woman voters. j Mrs. Minnie J. Hamilton gave a paper on "The World's Greatest .Need, and Mrs. William M. McCrea reported current cur-rent events. Tea was served following the programme. The rooms were decorated deco-rated in purple and wdiito lilacs, which were used aa a centerpiece for tea table. The hostessess jvere assisted in serving tea by Miss Rosalind Straup and Miss Danella Straup. Misa Lucy Kirkman sang and Miss Rose Pinnock gave a violin selection. |
