ENEMY- BATTERY SILENCED BY THE RUSSIAN FORCES PETROGRAD, May 1, via London, 10:25 p. m. The following official communication communica-tion was issued today: In the region of Poulkarn, southeast south-east of Riga, we successfully cannonaded can-nonaded an enemy battery. German artillery bombarded the region station sta-tion and bridgehead at Tkskull. In one sector of the Dvinsk positions our artillery caused an outbreak of fire in the enemy's trenches. Southwest South-west of Lake Naroca the Germans attempted at-tempted to debouch from their trepches. They were met by our fire and compelled to give up this attempt and return to their positions. Southeast of the Olyka station, on . the Rovno-Kovel railway, the enemy, In three successive attacks, tried to surround the village of Khromlakovo, hut every time was repulsed by our artillery and machine gun fire. Caucasus front: In the direction of Blarbekr our cossacks energetically repulsed the Turks toward the west. In the direction of Bagdad -we repulsed re-pulsed 'toward the west an Important enemy detachment, capturing a portion por-tion of its artillery and numerous caissons.
