Show CHRISTMAS 1914. This is the month and tills the happy morn Wherein the Son of Heaven s eternal king of wedded maid and virgin mother born Our great redemption from above did bring: Kor so the holv sages once did sing. That lie our deadly forfeit should release, And with his Father work us a perpetual peace. Milton. This is the day of days iu all Christian Chris-tian countries, the anniversary of the advent into the world of the meek and lowly Jesus. By faith tve can see the Star in the east that brought the wise men to the manger in Bethlehem, and hear the multitude of the heavenly host saying, "Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace, good will toward men." The angel of tho Lord still brings the good tidings of great joy he brought to tho shepherds ' who were watching their flocks in the field by night near where the Master lay in his swaddling clothes. The Star has shone with ever-increasing brilliancy during the nineteen centuries cen-turies since it first made its appearance appear-ance on the glad morn of tho nativity. The message of peace and good will has never been recalled. So today the Christian world rejoices that an all-wise all-wise Father has pointed the way to the highest and noblest forms of enjoyment, enjoy-ment, to the elimination of sin, sorrow and suffering, and to that perfect peace that passeth all understanding. People living in the United States would be less than human if they failed to grasp the true significance of the day and the joy of its proper observance. Let the bells peal forth their joyons welcome. Let young and old make merry around the hea.rthstone, not forgetting to glorify the name af the Prince of Peace. |
