Show NO SUCCESSOR TO EYHOWER CHOSEN Retiring Park Superinteudeut Draws Pay Until January 15; Thirty Applications Received, TIeber M. Wells, commbjfcioner of parks and public property, declares he has not yet made up his mind on a successor to Nicholas Byhower superintendent of parks. 1 Byhower's resignation, tendered at the request of the city commiHsion following an investigation Into charges that he had accepted "commissions" on the sale of nursery stock to the city, was to be effective ef-fective January , but since It was tendered ten-dered he has been given an additional two weeks' leeway in lieu of a vacation which he did not get. this year, lie will leave the city's service to all practical purposes at the first, of tho year, but his pay will go on until January Jo. In view of this arrangement it will not te possiblo under the law to appoint lus successor until January 15. Nearly thirty applicants for the position are on rocord with tlie park commissioner, commission-er, many of them having extensive Indorsement, In-dorsement, " It is understood that the choice lies largely between Thomas llob-cla, llob-cla, former superintendent of waterworks, water-works, and a Rich Porter, a nurseryman. |
