Both girls were unconscious when picked up by the driver of the car, Carl Gessel, P34 South Eleventh East street, who placed thorn In the machine and hurried them to the Judge Mercy hospital. Gessel. who Is a salesman for the Kosenbauni Wholesale Clothing house, stated that he was proceeding north on Eleventh Fast and had just turned Into Ninth South when he observed the girls, both ridlner the same sled, coming down the hill. Fearing that he would run over them, he stopped his car, which had already turned west on Ninth South. The sled ran into the rea r wheel, throwing the girls violently to the ground. At the hospital it was found that the Frost girl was the most serionslv iniured of tho two, being badly bruised about the head and face and her chest crushed. Tho Baxter girl received a severe bump on the top of the head and was somewhat some-what bruised about the body. Both recovered re-covered consciousness after their removal to the hospital. Police officials say that the Ninth South hill, between Ninth and Eleventh East, is one of the most dangerous localities locali-ties for coasting In the city and may take steps to stop the practice there. |
