Show PORTLAND WILL GET NEW RATE SCHEDULE Special to The Tribune. PORTLAND. Ore.. Dec. 3. Judge V. W. McCredie. owner of the Portland club, which was tentatively voted out of the Coast league on account of the high cost of transportation, said today that he had been given to understand tha t the old round-trip rates of a few years ago i would be restored by the railroad companies, compa-nies, ma king i t. possible for Port land to remain in the Pacific Coast league. The new round-trip ro Le from Portland Port-land to Lob Angeles would be around ?I3 per man, instead of $.".5 as at present. The rate from Portia na to San Fran cisco and return woutrf be a trifle less than ?2S, while at present the regular rate is 5 JO each way. The I rip from Portland to Los Angeles An-geles and return via Salt Lake would be proportionate. Of course, the judge says l here is nothing official ahout this and it did not come from the passenger agents, but it is pretty straight. The ma I tor is now in the hands of the passenger traffic headquarters at Chi-ca Chi-ca go. Judge McCredie is drafting a schedule and it is' being made up to take advantage advan-tage of the rates, going and coming. |
