Show COMPROMISE MADE IN BIG WATER SUIT Kansas-Colorado Litigation Over Arkansas Ar-kansas Raver Has Been Settled Out of Court. j PUEBLO, Colo., Dec. 3. A compromise compro-mise in the Kansas-Colorado water suit, involving the rights to use the waters of the Arkansas river for irrigation purposes, which, has been in the courts for several years, has been virtually agreen upon, it was learned here today in authoritative quarters. Only details remain to be adjusted. Under the terms of the compromise, five ditch companies of Kansas will relinquish re-linquish their claims of priority to water rights. In return, it is stated, Colorado will pay one-half the amount which would have been assessed by Kansas against this state for the use of water if Kansas had been able to establish es-tablish its priority rights through the courts. Kansas had objected to the use of water from the Arkansas river for irrigation ir-rigation purposes in this state, claiming it diverted most of the river's flow before be-fore it reached Kansas. |
