Show INFORMATION SOUGHT ON OLD EMPLOYEES Bequest Comes From Washington and Applies Only to Men in the Civil Service. From Washington letters aBkinr; for information concerning superannuated employees in the civil service here have been received at the offices in the federal fed-eral building. While it is not known among local federal officials what the information is desired for, it is generally general-ly thought that a plan to pension those over 65 years of age is in contemplation contempla-tion by the civil service commission. While tli e information was asked by the departments of which each office here is a representative institution, yet it is understood that it was for the use of the civil service commission. It is thought probable bv those who have been tollowing the policy of the government on civil service questions that, a bill allowing for the pensioning of aged employees will be introduced at the noxt session of congress. It has lung been a problem with the department heads, it is said, to know what to do with old emplovees who huve gotten hevond the age of'their best efficiency ef-ficiency and whose presence in salaried sal-aried positions shuts out vnunger persons per-sons aud results in a burden of Work upon those who are yet able to do then-share then-share aud more. |
