Lowo purchasing agent was taken by the city commission yesterday on recommendation of Henry W. Lawrence, Law-rence, finance commissioner, the commission com-mission having agreed Tuesday on Mr. Lowe's appoiutmcnt. Mr. Lowe will aa-I aa-I sume his duties today. After a discussion of tho publicity givon the commission's secrot session Commissioner Richard P. Morris announced an-nounced yestorday that hereafter he will oppose all secret sessions and will insist that newspaper men be allowed to attend all sessions of the commission. ' I hey muy vote mo out, he said, "but if they close the doors again that is what thoy will have to do, and I will insist that all newspaper men be made welcome at any meeting of the commission hereafter. No good can ever come from closing tho doors. 1 stood for it simply because others wautod the doors closed, but if thoy have thoir way again it will be be-cuuse be-cuuse they outvote mo," The reporters were barred from tho Tuesday afternoon meeting at the suggestion of Commissioners Lawrence and Shearman. |
