Show MOTOR OVER DESERT; 1ESTEDJ OH! Two California Youths Who Tell Conflicting Stories Suspected Sus-pected of Stealing Auto. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN. Sept. 11. On suspicion that ihoy. stole an automobile from C. II. P.ob-blns P.ob-blns In Sacramento, Cal., on September I, E. P. Stephens, aged IB years, and Leroy Stephens, aged IS, representing themselves to be brothers, wore taken Into custody by the local police today after they liad been trailed from Brigham City by Sheriff Joseph Olson of Box Elder county. Tlioy are being held at the city Jail pending Infonnailon from tlio authorities at Sacramento and San Francisco. According to the reward notices received re-ceived hero a week ago, the stolen auto was a Cadillac roadster but ihe car driven by the boys who are In custody here is a Chulmers livu-passenger touring tour-ing car. It Is believed by tho polico that tho boys could havo traded tho Csulilluc for the car found in their possession pos-session or oven stolen another auto while on route from Sacramento. When questioned by the police today the boys told different, stories. One declared that his parents reside on Church street In San Francisco, while the other said that he could not remember tho name of the street where his parents live. They have no particular destination destina-tion except that they are traveling across tho country from San Francisco. A telegram has been sent to Sacramento requesting a full doscrlptlon of the boy who stolo tho auto. Attention was directed to the boys ln custody here when they drove their car through Box Elder towns this morning at a high rate of speed. At Kelton they refused to stop when commanded to do so by an offcer, who then telephoned to Sheriff Olsen at Brigham City. The Chalmers car shown the effects of a hard cross-country trip. |
