Show ALMA KELLNER CASE RECALLED BY MURDER LOUISVILLE, Ky., Sept. .1,1. During Dur-ing the poriod Kov. Schmidt, who confessed con-fessed in Now York to" the murder of Anna Aumullcr, stopped in Louisville, this city was startled by the murder ot 8-yoar'6d Alma Kcllnqr, whoso mutilated muti-lated body was found in quicklinio in Ihe basciiiont of! St. John's Catholic church, nearly five months after her mysterious disappearance on December 8, 909. Because the manner in which tho child's body was cut into pioces and disposed of bore some resemblance to the methods employed in the murder mur-der of Anna Aumullcr in New York, interest in the Kellner case was renewed re-newed tonight on the receipt of the news of the ftev. Schmidt's arrest. Joseph Wendling, .janitor at. St. John's Catholic church, was arrested in California three mouths after tho discovery dis-covery of the body and was brought hack to Louisville, convicted of the murder and sentenced to life imprisonment imprison-ment at Frankfort. Wendling stoutly denied his guilt and the evidence was not considered sufficiently conclusive to warrant the jury in bringing a death verdict against him. The detectives who wero in ehnrge of the investigation of the child's death stated tonight that Schmidt's name was never mentioned in connection connec-tion with the crime.
