Show I MORE POWER PURCHASED'. Utah Power & Light Makes Deal With the Rapid Transit. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Dec. 25. Waving1 completely remodeled the sub-stuti.on at Washington Washing-ton avenue and Twentieth streets by removing re-moving all of t-ie steam, equipment and Installing modem transformers, the Og-den Og-den Rapid Transit company will on the first of the new year enter upon the us0 of electric current furnished by the Utah Power & Light company instead of that received from tlie lines of the Utah Light & Railway company. Direct connections arc now being- made between the transformer station of the transit company and the high tension lines of the new power company. Tho transit company requires 200 .iorsepowcr of eleetric.il energy to operate oper-ate Its lines. Seven hundred horsepower Is generated at the company's own plant at Wlllard canyon, but Is entirely consumed con-sumed In the operation of the Ogdcn-Urif-iinm rifv in t frnrh;i n lines between I Five Points and the Boxeldcr town. The remaining 2000 horsepower Is required for the city lines and the Ogden can-von can-von line. This latter amount will, after January 1. be received from the supply generated at the Grace, Idaho, nnd Provo plants of the Utah Power & Light company. com-pany. Tho great amount of current wvilch -will be available from the lines of the now Utah company will be sufficient to supply sup-ply the increasing needs of the local company for many years to come, even with the extensive Increase In city and intcrurban lines, now planned by tho transit company. Anions the first extensions ex-tensions to be made next spring, according accord-ing to .Manager D. D. Kline, will be the building of the Twenty-fourth-slreet line to complete the union station-Washington avenue loop. The decided movement of business in the direction of Twenty-fourth Twenty-fourth street makes the construction of t.ils Hue a necessity. |
