Show ACTIVITY ONEVERY SIDE. That this is a season of activity for Salt Lake City and for tho. State of Utah is evident. The Tribuno nearly every morning carries an account of something now and important, oithor already accomplished, or immediately on the tapis: often more than oue of such plans or events. The work on the Newhouso hotel has begun; the Saltair franchise is prominently up; extensions of the stroet railway sj'stein, including the suburban Hue into Utah county, are active: the improvement of Fifth East street to Ninth South is urged; playgrounds play-grounds and other improvements ou the west side are in demand; Forest Dale wants to get into the city corporation; "Home Products Week" is almost upon up-on us; the membership of the Commer rial Club is about to Re increased by a hundred, and the activities of the. club in various directions, notably in the matter of tho Transmississippi Con. gross , and; of the Irrigation Congress, are called into, plaj' almost daily. Then there is the big irrigation project pro-ject of Green River, and undoubtedly various new reclamation projects will be sprung during tho season. Dry farming farm-ing is to have a more thorough and widespread test than over bofore, with indications of success everywhere when the ground is well chosen. So that we conclude- that tho year is to be a progressive and profitable one, both for tho city and State, and we all rojoice thoreat, for it is something of which wo cannot havo too much. |
