Show SOON OATOH HOLDUPS. Negroes Arrested by Provo Police Oon-fesa Oon-fesa to Bobbing a Mexican. Special to The Tribune. PIIOVO, Dec. 6. The police mado a nuick capturo of holdups last night. About 1 o'clock a report camo in from tho San Pedro, Los Angelos & Salt Lako office that a Mexican had reported report-ed being held up by negroes. Chief of Police W. F. Giles, Officers M. I. Bushman and Jonas Collins went to tho dopot and found the victim of the robbers, Louio Sirrnoe. who Eaid he was standing on the street at Fourth West and Sixth South tn'ing to catch a tram for tho Carbon county, coal mines, when two negroes jumped out of the car and at tho point of a gun took his watch, a razor and othor articles ar-ticles from him. A search for tho robborB was made and by 3 o'clock two negroes were arrested in tho jun-, jun-, glea southeast of tho city and the sto-1 sto-1 !en articles found on them. They gave their namos as M. Louder and Russell Strange, and say thoy camo down from Salt Lake, also ou their way to the mines to look for work. They admit taking the articlos from theIoxican, but say they took it in a freight car whoro they were all riding, while Sirr-noo Sirr-noo was asleep. No woapon wa3 found on tho prisoners. |
