Twolve persons wero injured, one seriously, se-riously, whoa a northbound and a southbound south-bound Bamborgor train mot in a head-on collision one mile north of tho Layton switch at about 9:40 o'clock last night. Aa near as could bo learned, according to Julian Bamberger, tho motorman of tho northbound train, O. F. Vogol, passed signals ordering him to stop at both Kayevillo and Layton. All of tho injurod will recover. A number of them wero able to go to their homes unassisted last night. Automobiles Au-tomobiles and medical aid were promptly prompt-ly given by tho Bamberger management both in Salt Lake and Opden. The Injured. O. F. Owing to tho fact that the light load, tho singlo southbound car. was on the down-grado nnd tho heavily loaded two northbound cars wero goinjr slowly on the up-grade, tho seriousness of the collision col-lision was largely minimized. The northbound north-bound car left Salt Lako at 9 o'clock. Thero wero nine passengers In the front car and six in tho trailer. The latter escaped uninjured. The southbound car left Ogden at 9 o'clock. Every possible attention was given the Injured passengers by the" Eamberger officials. of-ficials. Julian Bamberger took personal charge of tho work as soon as the news of tho accident reached Salt Lako. Special Spe-cial cars wore sent from both ends of the lino to bring in the Injured. Mr. Williams was a passenger on tho southbound train. lie was ablo to take tho train following the accldont to Salt Lake, and whllo being attended by Dr. Nellson at tho Bamberger station described de-scribed the accident. Ho said: Tho first that the- passengers noticed no-ticed of the Impending accident was whon the brakes were suddenly applied, ap-plied, followed by a reversal of the power and the sanding of the rails. The shock und chako-up wns serious for a moment only. Several women screamed, but when nothing more happened everyone every-one quieted down. The back of tho scat on which I was sitting was broken off and I was thrown forward and bumpod my head on the seat-back seat-back In front of mo, but it did no damage.
