Show BUILDING BOOM ON IN JUNCTION CrTV Many Handsome Structures Are Now Under Way or Planned For. Special to The Tribune. OGDBN. Juno J5. Somo r.vidcnco of Iho pronounced improvement activities going on In Ogden at the present time and planned for the immediate future fu-ture may be gained from the fact that, within the small radius of 300 feet from the Intersection of .Hudson avenue and Twenty-fourth street, buildings aggregating aggre-gating a half million dollars in cost are .now under course of construction. Within a- few weeks work will be under way on two ' additional Mocks in the same limitation limi-tation of spaco, adding nearly $100,000 to the amount mentioned. Tn addition to whatever tills building boom Jtiay mean to the city from a general gen-eral view. It also marks a decided shifting shift-ing and extension of the substantial business center from Washington avenuo and Twcnty-fiffh street lo Twenty-fourth street, which appears certain to soon be-conui be-conui second only to Washington avenue in importance 'as a business thoroughfare. thorough-fare. A very Important featuro In this tendency will bo th opening of Hudson avenue from Twenty-second to Twenty-fourth Twenty-fourth streets, making that thoroughfare thorough-fare continuous from Tw'enty-sccond to Twenty-sixth street through the very heart of the business section. The buildings already under way in the little district at Hudson and Twenty-fourth Twenty-fourth arc the Kecles business block, eight stories: the Fred J. Kicsel building, build-ing, five stories and which will .furnish quarters for a bank and the Weber club, and the Pecrv building, three stories. In addition to these the A. L. Browor Dairy Supply company hns reached a, decision to erect a two-story, business block near Grant and Twenty-fourth, while the J. G. Read & Brothers company, wholesale Jobbers and manufacturers of harness, has authorized plans for a modern three-story three-story stnicturo to replace the present building at Hudson and Twenty-fourth. This action wns taken because the opening open-ing of Hudson avenue will necessitate the removal of a largo portion of tho present building. It will mean another Important step in the development of Tw-enty-fourth street as a business center when the Denver & Rio Grande railroad carries out Its announced plan to erect a $50,000 freight depot near tho Intersection of Wall avenue. Add to all of this improvement improve-ment a street car line to complete the Union station-Washington avenue loop and it can scarcely be doubted that a few months will mark a great change in the city's business district. It Is said that only the pressing need of a few extensions ex-tensions in the residence district now delays de-lays the Ogden Rapid Transit company In completing tho extension already started on Twenty-fourth street. |
