SECRET CONFERENCE IS HELD 1 PRISON Frank Esola Gives Advice to His Mates Before Starting for Penitentiary. SAN FRANCISCO, Juno 15. Former Police Officer Frank Esola, who has been sentenced to serve five years In Folsom prison for grand larceny In connection with tho operations of . a local bunco ring-, held a secret conference today at the county Jail with five other members of tho police force of this city, who will shortly be tried on conspiracy charges. The moetlng, it Is said, was plannd by ISsola himself, after Assistant District Attorney James Brennan had stated he would call Esola as a witness In the trials of the other former policemen. A rumor that Esola had called the meeting to advise his fellows to confess was denied de-nied by Esola. When asked what the conference was all about, the convicted man said: "Why, the boys just came out to bid me goodbye and have a bite to eat." Esola will leave for Folsom prison tomorrow to-morrow to begin his sentence.
