Show FORMULATING PLANS FOR SOCIAL RESEARCH A meeting was held yesterday evening at the Hotel Utah by the committee of seven which was appointed by a general meeting last week for the purpose of organizing or-ganizing a Bureau of Social Research for Investigation and social service within the state. Tho members of tho committee commit-tee were Dr. K. G. Gowans. Dr. John A. "Widtsoc president or the Utah Agricultural Agricul-tural college; Prof. E. G. Tltim of the Agricultural college. Prof. Coray of the University of Utah. jNTIss Grace Eaton. Mrs. P. X. Cook, the Be v. Elmer T. Goshen, tlie Rev. P. A. Simpkln and Dr. T. B. Beatty. Plans were discussed looking to the merging of the proposed new movement with the Charity Organizations society, now In process of formation In this city. The lack or timo at last night's meeting, meet-ing, however, prevented the formulation of any definite plan In this direction. A. committee consisting of Dr. Gowans, Dr. Beatty. Mr. Goshen. Mr. Simpkln. Mrs. Cook and Miss Eaton was appointed for the purpose of finding a way in which tho bureau might bo organized without duplicating a similar organization already al-ready In existence. The meeting which was to have been held next Monday has been postponed until tho first Monday in June, when all citizens interested in the organization of a bureau of social research uro Invited to attend and nssist In the organization along lines determined upon. |
