A coroner's jury today returned a verdict of suiqlde while despondent In tho case of Henry Spruck von Armcnthal, a brother of a German baron, who was found shot to death in a hotel yesterday. The principal witness wit-ness at tho Inquest was Mrs. Francos Rosenblatt, a niece of Mrs. Nelson Morris, Mor-ris, to whom Armcnthal referred in a letter he loft as "tho finest woman In the world." Friends said the couple's engagement recently was broken off because of Ar-menthal's Ar-menthal's Inability to quit drinking. Mrs. Rosenblatt made no reference to tho reported re-ported engagement In her testimony. Mrs. Rosenblatt testified that after receiving re-ceiving tvo letters from Armcnthal last Friday, In one of which he threatened to kill himself, she mot. him at tho home of Attorney W. D. Jones. "lie was under the lnlluenco of liquor when T met him," sho testified, "f tried to prevail upon him to quit drinking, but it did no good, f saw his coat bulging, bulg-ing, and believing ho had a revolver In his hip pocket wo tried to Induce him to give up the weapon. lie would not admit he had a revolver, and laughed tho matter off. I never took seriously his threats to end his life. Drinking heavily caused his despondency." |
