Show BIG SALT COMPANY TO SHIP PRODUCT Monfello Concern Now Awaiting Announcement of Rates by Railroads. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN'. .Mine 0 Within the next few-weeks few-weeks buildings will be erected and the work of extracting ali from the great salt beds of the Wontcllo Salt company in Tooele county will begin, according to Judge S. T. Corn, president and attorney for the company. A corps of engineers .has just completed an Inspection of tho groat salt beds to determine the best0 method of removing the salt and the most advantageous point at which operations will begin. The first salt removed will be near the tracks of l.lie Western Pacific, anil tho work will progress on both Fides of the right of way. Engineers have decided that a suction pump operated by a team Is the best and cheapest method for removing re-moving ths saline deposit As a greater part of the salt is moist. It can be easily drawn through the pipe by air pressure Judge Corn says that the success of the company Jn disposing of tho deposit will depend largely' on the freight rates offered by the railroad companies. Negotiations Nego-tiations arc now under way with the railroad rail-road companies. If equitable rates are. offered the salt company can compete with any ?alt company in the world. The saline deposit is ready for general use In its present form, but for tabic use a crusher will have to be employed and a fan used lo remove the dust and foreign for-eign substances". Stockholders of the company aro eagerly awaiting word from tho railroad companies. If 'the rates aro reasonable the company will employ a large force of men at once In tho construction con-struction and operation of the plant and others to create favorable markets for the large shipments which will begin Immediately. |
