Show CASE AGAINST WOMEN WILL NOT BE DROPPED NEW YORK, Juno 9 Prosecution of the two women who shot W. E. D. Stokes, the millionaire proprietor of the Hotel Ansonia, will begin as soon as Mr. Stokes' condition enables him . to appear against them. His attorney reiterated this statement today iu reply re-ply to rumors that the case might be dropped. At tho hospital Mr. Stokes was reported re-ported as improving, ft will bo several sev-eral days, however, before he is past the danger of blood poisoning. Meanwhile Mean-while tho women accused, Miss Lillian Graham and Miss Ethel Conrad, will be held to await examination. At prcsont the police are somewhat at sea, owing to the conflicting stories told by the principals in Wednesday night's shooting. Each young woman insisted that she alone fired the shots (hat struck Stokes. Miss Conrad saj's that the wounded man came to their apartment looking for her. Miss Graham Gra-ham says that slio had engaged a lawyer law-yer several days before to sue the man for defamation of character. |
