Show TO BANISH SMOKE FOR PURE MOUNTAIN AIR To the Editor of The Tribune The remedial finalities of fresh air. or. moiv properly, pure air, have been recognized for some time, but It Is finite recently that pf-ople have come to the eonolnslon that If puro air Is beneficial to ihe dcll-cato, dcll-cato, anaemic or tubercular Inclined It must be good for healthy peoplo as well, or that It Is not necessary to beill lo enjoy tho pleasure of living ln the open air. The sleeping porch has become almost a necessity in the modern honie. Many hundreds of dollars Have boon spent In Salt Lake City In their construction to niakc anything Impressive we always refer re-fer lo tho dollars but to receive the beuelU of sleeping In the fresh air one must first have the frosh (or pure) air, like the recipe for Welsh rabbit first get the rabbit. One would naturally suppose that puro air Is the cheapest and most plentiful thing In tho universe, but It is not so in our city, with the thousands of chimneys chim-neys constantly sending forth showers of soot and black" smoke. I here Is a movement on foot, which, if successful, will enable u.s lo procure all the pure air our lungs can use in their business. The Commercial club and the women's clubs, with the assistance of the mayor and city council, are making mak-ing a great effort to abato the smoke nuisance. Let us all help In the good work. Let us get rid of the smoke by using smoke consumers, bv careful and Intelligent tiring of furnaces, or bv any other method that -will do the work, and give back to us our delightful, health-giving health-giving mountain air and sunshine.
