Show MAIN STREET RUNAWAY CAUSES EXCITEMENT A team of horses attached to ono of tho delivery wagons of the United Grocery company became- frightened nt 5 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, probably prob-ably at a passing automobile, and dashed from its stand in front of tlio st'orc on Main street, near Third South. The team ran southward on Main at a terrific pace. Ah it was passing the postofiieo J. ir. Wilkin, who is en route from Patcrson, N. ."!., to Goldfield, ran at the horses' heads in an attempt to grasp tho bridles. In this Jio failed, however, and he caught tho t'ailboard of the wagon and clambered aboard, There was only ono rein in the wagon. This lio laid hold upon. The team was making directly for tin automobile auto-mobile containing a number of -women, but Wilkin, with a mighty pull, swerved the plunging horses and throw them to tho paving. The wagon collided col-lided with the automobile, and caused some damage to the car,, hat the occupants oc-cupants were unharmed. Lying on its side, one of tho horses kicked ajid pawed the air vigorously until W. .T. Pitlman came up and planted himself astride tho beast's licad. The horses at length scrambled lo their feet and were driven back to the store. One of the animals the fellow that started all tho trouble was . severely se-verely cut in his fall to the pavement and his spectacular slide along the rough surface. The other animal was not injured, and thc-ro was no damage t'o tho wagon. |
