Wlllard Partridge, tho IC-ycar-old burglar bur-glar arrested by Deputy Sheriff Samuel Nowoll Monday night, was given a hearing hear-ing before Judge McMastcr of the juvo-nllo juvo-nllo court Tuesday and was committed to the State Industrial school at Ogden. Partridge started out on a criminal course which, had It not been for his capture Monday, might have led into very serious seri-ous trouble, as he confessed that he Intended holding up and killing the tlrst person ho found alone. Partridge confessed to burglarizing a house on Thirteenth Hast street and stealing steal-ing a Winchester rifle and somo blankets, and also to burglarizing a houso at the Pioneer resort In Emigration canyon, from which he stole a. gold watch. Tho rifle and tho watch wore In his possession when captured In the canyon by the deputy sheriff. Henry Jacob, a hid about tho same age, was with Partridge In his adventures, but was not captured. A thorough search Is now being made for him, and If captured cap-tured ho no doubt will be sont to the industrial school, too. The mother of a ward of the juvenile court came near being lined for contempt by Judge McMastcr Tuesday, llor son was up for petit larceny and tho woman thought tho court and proceedings were a joke and laughed at the jufjgo several times. She was warned against sueh conduct and Informed that If she repealed re-pealed It she would be fined for contempt, con-tempt, and excluded from the courtroom, The boy was placed tinder suspended sentence sen-tence to tho detention homo. |
