Show UTAH DELEGATION'S WORK. Sinco thero 1ms been so much laudatory lauda-tory rubbiBh printed about, tho Utah delegation in Congres, tho influouco it has exerted, and tho great work it has done, it is proper to stuto tho plain unvarnished fact, that it has had less influonco aud has been moro contomp-tiblo contomp-tiblo in its activities and lack of activity activ-ity than any other delegation eithor from Utah heretofore, or from any other State. In tho Senate tho members from this State have ben openly posted as knowing less about moro things than any other members of that body. They havo, with a blind devotion greater than tho Senators of any .other State, followed tho load of tho corporation Senators, and havo fought with more uniformity for corporation greed and monopoly and against the interests of tho people than any other Senators. Thoy have stood with tho Aldrieh faction fac-tion all tho time, the faction which has boon moro uncompromisingly antagonistic antagonis-tic to the interests of tho people than any other clique of Senators that ever mado their influence felt in tho Senate Sen-ate of the United States. They have voted to protect all the powerful interests in-terests all the time. No longer ago than the closing days of tho session they voted agaiDst an amendment to the railroad bill which places tho tele graph and telephone companies under tho jurisdiction of tho Interstate Commerce Com-merce Commission, whero they evidently evident-ly and naturally belong, in their interstate in-terstate business. They have never at any timo failed to meet tho demand of Mr. Aldrieh to come to heel at his bock and call. They go out of their way to serve tho intrenched "interests" aud influences that have monopolized tho markets of this country and to servo those who have placed tho pco-plo pco-plo at the mercy of those interests. The going of Smoot to Massachusetts to speak a good word there for his friend Lodge, who voted for him in the interests in-terests of the polygamous hierarchy here, and -who is an especial servant of greed and monopoly, is fresh in tho pub-lie pub-lie mind. A moro subservient, timeserving time-serving trio never misrepresented and betrayed the interests of tho people than the Utah delegation has done in both tho special and regular soebious of Congress. In tho meantime, tho local interests of Utah are neglected, save whero private pri-vate interests control. It is a coincidence coinci-dence more or leas noioworthy that on the da' -when tho extravagant, ridicu-olus ridicu-olus claim wns made of wonderful service serv-ice to the people by the Utah delegation, The Tribune should receive a letter showing a complete neglect of local interests in-terests by that delegation. We print here that ietter entire, as follows: Statellne. Utnh, June 26. Editor Tribune; We are about to lose our mall service for reasons unknown to anv one here. Mr. W. H. Perry put In a bid of $SS0 for three times per week mall, but the department at Washington, D. C, would not accept It, but instead, has given the postmaster here permission permis-sion to give two-thirds of his cancellations cancella-tions per quarter to have mall carried, which amounts to about $20, and is Just yo same as nothing as iL will take $C per trip to get mail here. There are some fifty people that get their mall at Ihls office, anu prospects of more. So it looks like some one has slipped In a Joker. After next Thursday I will not got your paper, which I like very much, owing to no mail. We now have a daily mall. Please help us in this matter. Very truly, 4 (Signed) JOS. JOHNSON. Here is a case where fifty people or moro, are about to lose their mail service because our delegation in Congress were too busy scrvingt personal per-sonal and monopolistic interests to attend at-tend to it. One case like this outweighs out-weighs in tho balance a whole sky full of empty boasts and windy hot air. Tho Utah delegation simply looks to tho big interests for its protection and support. It. represents chiefly President Joseph F. Smith of tho Mormon church and is subservient to his beck and call and to the monopolistic interests with which ho is affiliated and tho concerns in contact con-tact with them. To praiso an affiliation affilia-tion like that is to betray the people, and to play them for ignoramuses who do not know when thoy are served and when their interests arc slaughtered to make sport and fatness for thoso'in power, |
