Show Rapid Increase of Scarlet Fever and Typhoid During Last Week. HEALTH REPORT SHOWS XO XEW CASES OP SMALLPOX Number of Births Is Twice as Large as Record oi' , Deaths. With the opening of the public schools, contagion and infection showed a marked increase in Salt Lako City, but neither the health or the school authorities au-thorities attribute the increase to the beginning of school for the reason that any advance in the number of contagious con-tagious and infectious diseases through the schools will not show in the health reports for a week or ten days. The weekly report of the city board of health, submitted Saturday," shows that contagious and infections diseases jumped from 12 for tho previous week to 22 for t ho week ending Saturday.
