Show MURRAY NEWS NOTES 1 Special lo T.he Tribune. MURRAY, Sept. 11 The work of moving all poles from the center of State street in Murray will bo commenced com-menced very shortly. At present Iho i poles of the Utah Light and Railway I company are in the center of the street, and on "East Sixteenth street they arc eighteen fcct.out. "Old death trap." a largo pole used by the Murray Progress company and tho Bell; Telephone company, has linnlly been removed from its position 011 the railroad right-of-way at tho .-junction of Main, and Center streets. This polo was placed so near the rails of tho railroad track that' trainmen wore in constant danger' if fhevat tempted to hang to or climb their train while passing this point. A number of men have had narrow nar-row escapes from the polo, while one man bo'camoMIs victim and forfeited his life'in fife hospital. While passing this point 1ic was struch by the polo and hurled bencath-the wheels of the train which cut off both legs and injured him internally. The railroad company demanded de-manded that the pole be removed. An appeal was not made from the decision de-cision of tho city, court in the case of the fhroe Greeks who were found guilty of disturbing the peace and using a deadly weapon, some three weeks ago, on the person of Ray Malstrom. The one who was so handy with the knife will be required to pay the fine of $75, and the other two $-5 and $25, respectively, respect-ively, imposed upon them by .Justice Li ml. .Jesse Lloyd, a brakeman on one of tho -"dinky" engines at the American smelter, missed his footing as he was about to jump 011 the engine yesterday, and as a result he suffered a badly erushed foot. It was thought that the member would have to be amputated, but later developments proved otherwise. |
