Show WHEAT MARKET QUIET, WITH WEAK HHDEBTOHE Traders Await Government Report Re-port Before Engaging in Extensive Ex-tensive Operations. CHICAGO, Aug. 7. Wheat was quiet nearly all day, but the undertone was one of weakness, although at times moderate firmness was manifested as a. result or covering bv shorts. The dullness was chiefly due to tho reluctance of many traders to open new accounts pending the government report'due on Monday. The market opened fairly firm, owing- to the strength of coarse grains, particularly corn, but soon eased oft again on renewed profit taking. Some congestion developed In September on covering by shorts and that option was relatively stronger than the more distant deliveries. September sold between 008c and 1.008. The close was easy, with September at 1. Hot, dry weather in the com belt prompted active covering by shorts m tho corn market, which resulted In a strong tone throughout the entire day. September ranged between 632c and 6llc. The close was strong, with prices only a trifle below tho high marks, September belntr at 64i(fD641c. The bulgo In corn was largely responsible respon-sible for considerable strength in oats. Shorts were good buyers. The market closed firm, Aifpic higher. Provisions were dull and easy. Prices at the closo were unchanged to 71c lower. RANGE OF THE LEADING FUTURES. Wheat Open. High. Low. Close.
